1.6" 60' Flatcar

This 1.6" 60' flatcar is a great addition to any railroad! This flatcar can be used to haul goods around the railroad for maintenance , or easily add a seat or three for ride on purposes or an engineer car. My YouTube video provides step by step instruction on how I made this cars so be sure to check that out! This flatcar is the PERFECT place for a beginner to start their backyard railroad journey. This is a great piece of equipment to learn how to weld, and build reliable running rolling stock for your backyard railroad or a day down at the track.
 
This flatcar utilizes materials you can find locally to you. The frame is build from 1X2, and 1X1 rectangular tubing. The Flatcar sides and ends can be built from 4" X 1/8th inch steel strap, or laser cut using the included laser cut files. (Laser cutting recommended but not necessary)
 
Included with the downloads are the engineering drawings needed to complete the flatcar, and the files needed to laser cut the ends and sides if you wish to do so. 
 
Just as a warning, if you intend to move this car using a pickup truck it WILL NOT fit in a standard 8' truck bed WITHOUT removing the couplers. This does make it a little annoying if you do plan on utilizing a truck bed for transportation. If you wish to keep the couplers on or are looking for something a bit smaller, check out my 53' or 40' Flatcar models!
