1.6" EMD F7A Locomotive
***This locomotive is currently being built and tested. If you wish to purchase the design prior to the prototype being completed and available for purchase please contact me via email***
Have you ever wanted to build an EMD F7 but had no way to build and create the iconic complex geometry? Well now you can! JT Engineering's EMD F7A offers fantastic detail, while being an absolute breeze to assemble. The frame utilizes all metal construction, while the body is a hybrid constructed of steel and 3D printed parts. The tab and slot construction design makes the frame of this locomotive easy to assemble, while the 3D printed parts take all the guess work out of building such a complex geometry.
This is not a beginner 3D printing project. These prints are hefty. Some take a few hours, while a few of the larger parts in the nose and roof sections can take up to a week to print on your standard printer. (Print times vary based on infill percentage, speed settings etc... The print times listed above are slow, conservitave estimates.... but you get the point). This will be a slow burn project unless you have a 3D printer farm dedicated for your use.
Both the top and bottom headlights are designed to accept LED lenses and 1W LED lights. The included backlit number boards (Locomotive # 5771) add a nice touch of realism for night operations. Custom backlit number boards for your specific locomotive number will be available at a later time for custom order. If you dont want backlit number boards, a blank number board is included in the files. Simply create your own decal, and apply to the number board for your specific road number.
