3D Printed Headlight and Reverse light (Pyle light style)

3D Printed Headlight and Reverse light (Pyle light style)

Headlights and Reverse lights are one of the things you need to make a good looking steam engine model. This headlight and reverse light housing was modeled after the RGS 10 wheeler Pyle style headlights.

In the files you will receive the headlight body, and a lens cover with a hood or without the hood. Hoods were typically used on the headlights while they were omitted on the backup lights, so depending on what directional light you are building you have two options. You will also receive two different style tender platforms, and blank number boards so you can add your locomotive number via decals. Custom backlit number boards may be offered at a later date. The reflector is designed to be 3D printed and painted with a reflective material, or CNC machined and then polished from aluminum. A 1W chipboard LED is designed to be glued to the back of the reflector to provide the lighting. If you intend to print your headlight and place it on a live steam engine, it is critical you choose a material that can handle the heat above the smokebox. For this, I would recommend PA6CF as it has excellent heat resistant properties.

As a reminder, I sell NO physical plans on this website, only digital files so that you can print and assemble your own headlight or reverse light at home.
